John 11-13

"Yet at the same time many even among the leaders believed in Him. But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the praise of men more than praise from God."  John 12:42-43, NIV

This verse about sums it up for many of us today. Someone uses the Lord's name in vain in our presence, but we say nothing for fear of their disapproval. At school, we are afraid to mention God's name for fear of reprimand or worse. At work, we do not use Christian principles for fear that someone will ridicule us.

So, whether in our everyday acquaintances, in school or on the job, God gets little if any regard because we are afraid of suffering the displeasure of someone with a big mouth and a chip on their shoulder when it comes to anything pertaining to Him.

The question we have to ask ourselves is would we rather receive the praise of men, or the praise of God? One's praise is temporary and changes with every wind that blows. The praise of the other is unchanging and eternal. And the choice of which praise we will ultimately receive is entirely up to us.

So choose wisely - your soul depends on the right answer!

"Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men I would not be a servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10, NIV
