Luke 23,24, John 1

"The Word became flesh and lived for a while among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."  John 1:14, NIV

"From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ."  John 1:16-17, NIV

This is only the second time that we read of grace in the New Testament (The first is Luke 2:40). It will surprise many people to know that Jesus was never recorded as having spoken of grace during His ministry here on earth. What should surprise no one is that grace and truth came through Him.

Since grace plays one of the most important roles in our salvation, and since it is so closely linked to truth, it becomes imperative for us to make sure that we pay close attention to the truth so that we can learn everything we can about God's saving grace.

And we can only do this through a thorough study of God's Word.

At this point in the study, I want to mention something that has probably become quite apparent to everyone taking part: It is hard!

So is everything, wouldn't you agree, that is worthwhile for men to do in this life! Aren't you glad that you are doing this hard thing? Where else, other than God's Word, can you find the truth of God's grace? Where else can you find the truth?

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."  John 14:6, NIV
