2 Thessalonians 2- 2 Timothy 2

"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."

II Timothy 2:15, NIV

I have always loved this passage of Scripture! It not only commands us to do our best to correctly handle the word of truth, but by necessary inference, reveals to us that God's word can be correctly handled.

That means that we can understand the Bible!

Think about the power of that statement: We can correctly handle the Word of God! It doesn't mean that it will be easy, nor does it mean that we will all come to the same conclusion that others do. What it does mean, however, is that we are required to do "our best". And God will take care of the rest!

Do you see how that puts a responsibility on us, while at the same time lifting a burden? God requires our best - nothing more, and nothing less. And we know what our best is! Are you doing your best for God? If so, then you will most certainly be blessed!

Do your best and God will take care of the rest! But make no mistake: The best will require you to make every effort that you can!

"Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as He made His way to Jerusalem. Someone asked Him, 'Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?' He said to them, 'Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and not be able to.'"

Luke 13:22-24, NIV

Today is day 24 of the Thirty Day Bible Challenge and the readings are II Thessalonians 2 through II Timothy 2. If you have made it this far, then you have overcome many temptations, excuses, and obstacles to do so. The rest of the way, I believe, you will find to be much easier as you see the accomplishment of your goal well in sight.
