Ephesians, Philippians

"Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed - not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence - continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose."

Philippians 2:12-13, NIV

Today, we hit at the heart of why we study: To be saved! There is no greater goal for a man or woman to have than to be with God for all eternity. This opportunity to be saved is given to us because God so loved the world, and because greater love has no one than to lay down his life for his friends. God loved us and Jesus died for our sins, thus underscoring our two greatest gifts: The grace of God and the sacrifice of Jesus.

Since They have so loved us, what else could we do but love Them? The way that we show that love for Them, as well as our desire to serve Them for all eternity, is by doing Their will. The only way we can know that will is to read the Bible. Then we can know what to do! Then we can know how to obey Their command to work out our salvation with fear and trembling.

It is a great gift that God offers His beloved children: To be with Him forever! May we ever strive to do our part to reach that goal!

"If you love Me, you will obey what I command."

John 14:15, NIV

"For you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls."

I Peter 1:9, NIV

Today is the 22nd day of the Thirty Day Bible Challenge. If you have made it this far, it is because you have persevered in your goal - perhaps more so than at any other time of your life. Well done! Today's readings are the Books of Ephesians and Philippians.
